Meet Our Coaches!
Jenny has been the head coach for Savannah Summer Rec Swim team since 2017. During that time, she has enjoyed coaching the surrounding community in swimming from the beginners to advanced. She has a passion and love for the sport of swimming and looks forward to inspiring others in the sport. Jenny believes summer rec is a time to build friendships, learn about the sport of swimming, and to have fun.
As a kid, Jenny spent many summers swimming in her pool in her backyard. At age 10, she started competitive swimming for Barracuda Aquatics Club in Minnesota. Through her years she competed at Zone, Sectionals, and competed as a relay member at US Nationals. In the summer of 2003, Jenny was the Minnesota state champion in the 50 and 100 free. During her high school years, she competed for Thomas Jefferson and was an All-State swimmer. She continued her swimming career at Iowa State University, where she was on the school record setting 200 freestyle relay and was captain her senior year. She was also Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
Jenny has B.S. in Exercise Science from Iowa State University and a B.S. in Nursing from Missouri Western State University. She has 3 kids Jacob, Kaylee, and Markus.
For over 40 years, Coach Tammy has been involved with the sport of swimming as a swimmer, parent of a swimmer, and as a coach.
Since moving to Missouri, she has been on deck coaching with the St. Joseph Pony Express Swim Team, KC Blue Wave Swim Team, Savannah Summer Swim Team, and most recently is a coach with Savannah HS Boys and Girls Teams.
As a veteran coach, Tammy’s goal is to share her passion for this sport while impacting youth both in the pool and in life. Her motto is “to make a difference” in the lives of others. Whether it be a novice swimmer just learning swim skills or the experienced athlete fine tuning techniques, there is always something to focus on to achieve personal success. In addition, Coach Tammy thrives on assisting swimmers of all levels in developing the characteristics of becoming a great team-mate and servant leader.
Carlton graduated from SHS in May. He has been on the Savannah Summer Swim Team for 6 years and the SHS swim team for 4 years. He was also a member of the SHS basketball team, FFA, NHS, band, and owns his own lawn mowing business! Carlton will be attending Mizzou in the fall to major in journalism.
Meghan graduated from SHS in May. She has competed with the SHS Swim Team for four years and has been on SST for nine years. Meghan also works as a lifeguard and manager at the SAC. She will be attending SBU in the fall where she will major in physical education and continue her swimming career.
Logan Beck will be a senior at Savannah High School next year. She’s been swimming for SHS for 3 years and on SST since she was 6 years old. Logan has been a lifeguard at SAC for 3 years.
Jexx Olsen will be a junior at SHS and has been swimming for SHS for 2 years and on SST for 2 years. His favorite stoke is butterfly. He also works as an SAC lifeguard, and enjoys helping others improve. He is excited to support younger swimmers as a junior coach. Jexx is also an active member of the SHS band.
